PERSONAL BACKGROUND Keith A. Spong grew up in Rockford, Illinois. He currently resides in Arlington Heights, Illinois with his wife, Kathy. Keith's outside interests include hiking, scuba diving, reading about history and international travel. EDUCATION Keith graduated from Rockford Guilford High School in 1981. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1985 with bachelor of science degree in history together with minors in political science and economics. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta social fraternity while at Iowa State. Keith was also a member of Phi Alpha Theta, an academic honorary fraternity for those in the field of history. He then received his Juris Doctor degree, With Distinction, from the University of Iowa Law School in 1988. PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS AND EXPERIENCE Keith has been a practicing attorney since 1988. After working for one year as a litigation associate for a small firm in Rockford, Keith joined Brady & Jensen as an associate in September, 1989. Keith then became a partner in January, 1996. He is a member of the Elgin, Kane County and Illinois State Bar Associations and has spoken at professional seminars on real estate topics. Keith has 18 years of private practice experience in the transactional areas of law. His area of concentration has been real estate and he has extensive experience in all types of various commercial and residential purchase/sale transactions, condominium projects, zoning/subdivision and other development work. Keith also has extensive experience in advising business owners in connection with the set up of corporations, limited liability companies and other types of business entities as well as involvement with the negotiation and sale of businesses. Specific matters which Keith has previously handled for individuals and businesses include the following: Residential Real Estate Purchase/Sale COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Keith was on the board of Well Child Center, an Elgin not-for-profit organization that provides preventive health care and education to underprivileged expectant mothers and their children. Keith was also on the board of Community Contacts, Inc., a not-for-profit organization serving the Kane and DeKalb County areas with regard to providing residential repair, weatherization and utility assistance with the goal of allowing individuals to stay in their own homes where they might otherwise be unable.
