PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION I graduated from St. Charles High School in St. Charles, Illinois in 1979. I then attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, from which I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1983. Then I attended the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his juris doctor degree in 1986. PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS AND EXPERIENCE Following graduation from law school, I worked as an associate at the law firm of Clancy & McGuirk, P.C., in St. Charles, Illinois. While there, I worked on several complex wrongful death cases, including an explosion at the Union Oil refinery in Lemont, Illinois, where several people were killed. I worked on personal injury cases, medical malpractice cases, product and premises liability cases, and workmen's compensation cases. I also performed extensive appellate work. I left Clancy & McGuirk to become an Assistant State's Attorney at the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, where I remained for twelve years or so. As a prosecutor, I prosecuted all types of criminal complaints and indictments from the most minor to capital (death penalty) murder cases. I tried approximately twenty-six first degree murder cases and qualified two defendants for the death penalty. I was the first and last director of the gang prosecution unit which, during his tenure, had an average conviction rate of higher than ninety per cent. I was also the Director of the Kane Country Child Advocacy Center, which is charged with investigation and prosecuting allegations of child abuse. I was the prosecutor who authorized criminal charges against the couple who left their children "Home Alone" while they vacationed in Mexico. Since 2001, I have had the honor of being associated with Brady&Jensen in the trial division of the firm. AWARDS AND HONORS In 1992, I was honored with the award of Outstanding Prosecutor of the Year from then Kane County State's Attorney Gary V. Johnson. In 2000, I received the St. Charles High School Distinguished Alumni Award. At that time, then St. Charles Mayor Sue Klinkhamer honored me with the key to the City of St. Charles. I continue my membership in the Kane County Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, and Illinois Trial lawyer's Association. I continue my active involvement in the Mock Trial program at St. Charles North High School. AREAS OF PRACTICE AND EXPERIENCE I concentrate my practice in all forms of litigation and trial practice and I consider myself a "trial lawyer". Primarily, I concentrate my practice in serious personal injury law, serious accidents, wrongful death and other serious Tort litigation. I represent those severely injured in auto and truck accidents as well as people seriously injured on the property of another. Medical malpractice and Nursing Home/Elder Care litigation. I represent those injured on the job by and through the Workmen's Compensation Act. I also represent clients in all areas of criminal defense litigation, such as: traffic, misdemeanors, DUI cases, domestic violence, and all felonies in Kane, Cook(Rolling Meadows), DuPage, Kendall, and DeKalb Counties.
