Automaker announces safety recall focused on air bag problem

Heads up if you're an Illinois motorist who drives a BMW 3 Series car manufactured between 2000 and 2006. You're likely to get -- if you haven't already received -- a recall notification from the dealership where you purchased your vehicle informing you of a potential air bag problem.

The debate regarding commercial truckers and fatigue rages on

The United States Department of Transportation estimates that about 13 percent of all truck crashes owe largely to driver fatigue. The American Trucking Associations -- the nation’s largest commercial trucking advocacy group -- contests that estimate, stating that it overestimates the role of fatigue in truck accidents. The ATA counters that a more accurate figure is about seven percent.

DUI enforcement: federal law would mandate national uniformity

Illinois is among a strong minority of states with a law on the books mandating that even a first-time convicted drunk driver install an ignition interlock device on every vehicle that he or she drives.
