Woman sues Illinois hospital for medical malpractice

Medical malpractice in Illinois can cost healthcare professionals their jobs and require the payment of hefty compensation. Recently, a woman sued a group of healthcare providers for medical negligence, stating that she suffered cardiac arrest and serious breathing problems while delivering a baby in the emergency room due to alleged medical errors.

The lawsuit was filed against the hospital and a group of health professionals who were involved in making healthcare decisions and providing medical care for the woman. A day after admittance, according to the lawsuit, doctors decided to deliver the plaintiff's baby by Cesarean section, which required anesthesia. According to her complaint, the patient alleges that doctor error is the reason she suffered a heart attack and respiratory failure, which caused her permanent brain damage.

She claims that she is suffering due to the healthcare team's failure to diagnose the problem, which caused them to also fail to control the critical situation during labor and delivery. Now, the woman is seeking thousands of dollars in compensation, plus medical expenses and attorney's fees.

Illness and critical health conditions force people to seek care in hospitals with medical staff, who hopefully can provide relief. However, health professionals who make catastrophic or fatal medical errors should be held accountable for personal injury or wrongful death. Medical malpractice can address misdiagnosis and errors in treatment and illness management.

Any person or family member who has suffered injury or death due to medical malpractice should immediately file a claim concerning the situation. Delays in pursuing a legal claim could result in loss of benefits, because Illinois law sets a time limit or a statute of limitation, for filing a lawsuit in court. Before filing, it would also be a wise decision to seek advice from an experienced attorney for a complete understanding of personal injury law, which, if followed, may provide fair compensation for pain and suffering.
