Illinois construction worker killed in 12 foot fall

Many Illinois residents understand that construction work can be dangerous. Construction workers put their lives on the line in order to build and maintain infrastructure in Illinois. Without construction workers, many people would not have their homes, places of work or safe roadways.

One of the reasons why construction work is so dangerous is because workers are dealing with heavy equipment. Additionally, workers are often working in dangerous locations, including at high heights, outdoors and in partially constructed structures. Sadly, these dangerous conditions often result in construction site accidents. These workplace accidents can leave workers seriously or even fatally injured. Recently, a 68-year-old construction worker in Illinois was killed on the job.

According to reports, the man was working on a house in Winnetka when the accident occurred. Police say that the man fell 12 feet before hitting a beam while working on the foundation of a home. Following the accident, the man was removed from the site and taken to a local hospital. However, at the hospital the man succumbed to his injuries.

It is often difficult to determine why these construction site accidents occur. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating this case in order to try to determine why the man fell. An OSHA investigation is often very important in preventing these types of accidents in the future.

Many workers in Illinois face risks that can lead to serious injuries on the job. When a workplace accident does happen, workers' compensation benefits may be available to the worker or the worker's family. These benefits can help pay for expenses related to the accident.
