Illinois worker killed on the job

Most workers in Illinois don't expect to go to work and find dangerous conditions. In many cases, people work in safe and comfortable environments. While people may not enjoy going to work, they still know that when they're at work they are relatively safe.

However, even with this relative safety, workplace accidents still occur. In many cases, workplace accidents will be minor and lead to only small injuries. However, there is a chance that more serious injuries can occur.

Recently in Chicago Heights, Illinois, a 37-year-old man was killed on the job. According to reports, the man works for a shipping and freight company. At around 5:30 a.m., the man was struck in the head by an RV panel. The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated. However, reports claim, that the man died later that day. Medical professionals say the man died from a compressional injury as a result of the workplace accident.

Following the accident, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration has begun an investigation into the accident. The company has been previously cited with workplace safety violations during OSHA inspections in 2010 and 2011.

Workplace safety violations can indicate that workers are at risk on the job. Employers are responsible for ensuring that the workplace is safe for all employees. When a workplace accident occurs, workers in Illinois may be entitled to worker's compensation benefits. These benefits can help compensate employees and their families for losses suffered as a result of the accident. These damages can include lost wages, medical expenses, funeral expenses and more. People who have been injured at work, should make sure they understand their right to worker's compensation.
