Pedestrian killed, another injured, in car accident

Many of our readers in Elgin probably travel to and from Chicago frequently. And, when they do, they know that traffic can be hectic. However, some people may not think about the pedestrians who may be walking along the road they are on. What many people fail to realize is that if a car accident occurs, those pedestrians may be in danger as well.

According to a recent report, two pedestrians experienced the deadly impact that a car collision can have. The reports indicate that on June 2, at approximately 9 p.m., a 2002 Toyota being driven by a 65-year-old woman slammed into an SUV. After the collision between the two vehicles, the Toyota then slid over to a sidewalk, where the two pedestrians were struck. The impact killed one of the pedestrians, a female, while the other pedestrian, a 54-year-old male, was transported for medical treatment. The reports indicate that medical professionals were able to stabilize his condition.

The SUV that was struck by the Toyota was driven by a 28-year-old woman. She also suffered injuries in the collision and was transported for medical treatment.

From the reports, it appears that the driver of the Toyota was cast, at least initially, as the person at fault for this car accident. Police officers who arrived on the scene reportedly issued two citations to this driver, one for failure to remain in her lane and one for failing to reduce her speed in order to avoid an accident. She was the only person involved who did not receive medical treatment.

If you or a loved one are injured in a car accident caused by a negligent driver, you may wish to consult a personal injury attorney to discuss the possibility of filing a lawsuit against the negligent driver.
